Crime data of Bucktown and surrounding Chicago neighborhoods (and some commentary)

Reported Incidents of Violent Crime By District - Sept 24, 2017

Data includes all reported incidents of crime by district, Jan 1 to Sept 15, 2015 to 2017.

(For the purpose of this chart, "Violent Crimes" is Homicide, Burglary, Robbery, Assault, Battery, Criminal Sexual Assault, Criminal Trespass, Theft, Weapons Violation).

As you can see 14th District (Bucktown's Police District) has fared badly along with most police districts of the city.  Crime has continued to increase over the last 2 years.

18th District has seen the greatest increase in crime compared to 2015.  16th District has seen the greatest decrease in crime.

Citywide (Grand Total), the entire city has seen an increase of over 9,000 more violent crimes than it did in 2015, an 8.2% increase.

  1. Ask yourself, how long has it been since I seen a CPD car cruise down my block...? Well manpower is down, maybe you'll see 1 every 8hrs.

The reason 16th district has so little crime is because it's so far away from the south and west side of Chicago -too much trouble for thugs from these areas to drive up to Jefferson Park district. Wickerpark and Ukrainian Village is just a stroll away, they can be there and back several times by dinner time.

  3. Almost a thousand more burglaries ,robberies, and such for our area. A thousand more crimes, and at least how many less cops, 50? Can you please find this out?

  4. If you actually knew how few cops are in your district, you will freak out. Keep paying high taxes while all the resources you pay for are south and west sides.
